Had my first quesadilla in Mexico here, absolutely delicious ! They did vegetarian too. Very helpful and friendly. I wish I had of been hungrier to eat more, it was so good. Quesadilla was 40 pesos.
We had lunch at this local restaurant. The fish quesadilla and chicken burrito were really tasty. Good service and the owner's dog is super friendly too!
I went here with a group of 6 people. We got their chucky special that feeds 6. Came with guacamole, chips, fresh salsa, rice, sauteed veggies, fish, shrimp, pork, steak and warm tortillas. Everyone had their favourites. Tortillas were nice and warm, we wish we got more. But we didnt. Guac was awesome. It was a decent amount of food and we were full based on how hungry we were. But if you came starving, you might need an appetizer. Customer service was okay, obviously language is a barrier but that’s on us! The server did the best she could, so thank you for that. Everyone was super friendly, and food came out in a timely manner.
Very nice easy going family run taqueria in the center of Akumel. Friendly service and delicious quesadillas. You can often find local workers going in their lunch break. Cannot get more authentic. Low prices. Very recommended
Fantastic spot frequented by locals and tourists who know where to find great food. The ceviche is fantastic (as good as I’ve had anywhere), as is the arrechera. I only wish I’d found it sooner so I could have enjoyed more of their food as there are many options. I didn’t get to try one myself, but the tortas I saw many locals eating looked amazing (and quite large). I will surely return on my next visit to the Akumal area.
A very authentic resto with excellent food and service. A wide range of menu items for everyone- I had a few different type of tacos, my wife had the chicken burrito- all was succulent. Lots of local workers were there at lunch, which is always reassuring. We brought back some flank steak and pork and they included a large number of accompanying side dishes- so sweet! Highly recommend stoping there. They apparently open at 7 am and would be interested to understand what is offered!!
We were looking for a local, authentic neighborhood taqueria - and Taqueria “Chucky” does not disappoint. Quirkily decorated in keeping with its “Chucky” theme (yes, that’s right - the murderous doll that came to life), this local hot spot blends the very best local ingredients, food preparation craftsmanship, and grill-master techniques to offer a wide variety of really great dishes - from an incredible ceviche mixto (the blend of fresh seafood, lime, and perfect seasonings really shouldn’t be missed), to a wide range of fresh, incredible tacos (we tried them all and weren’t disappointed - carnitas estilo michoacan, carne asada, arrachera de Res, pollo a la plancha, camaron and pescado al ajo, empanizado o capeado, pulpo al ajo), burritos, and really great daily specials, Fridays and weekends they’ve got additional price cuts - on already dirt-cheap tacos (all 30mx/pc Fri-Sat), tortas (all 60mx each) and their prepared meat in each of the styles listed above (by the kilogram - all 300/mx), should you wish to continue the fun at home. Everything comes with a variety of sauces, herbs and additives (pico de gallo, chopped onions, cilantro, various salsas, a number of hot sauces) to suit every taste - and make sure you top up your tacos/burritos/whatever with these - the food’s already great, with the added stuff... incredible. Coupled with a crisp cerveza, mixed drink, fresh juice or house-made horchata (fantastic), you’ve got a meal worthy of royalty. Tons of locals coming in and out, obviously a very popular local spot, and though our group had 15 people in it we were seated quickly and without fuss - servers speak limited English, but enough to get by, and the menu comes in both English and Spanish, so you’re good to go either way. A really great hole-in-the-wall authentic taco spot, highly recommended, will definitely be going there again.
Best food ever! Everything was fresh and delicious. Don't expect a fancy dinner, it's a local gem.
